A Stoke-on-Trent town has been named 'one of the best pub towns in England'.
A list of the top 10 pub towns published in an article by The Telegraph, included Hanley.
The list was curated by expert Will Hawkes, who considered factors such as affordability, traditional culture, and how much the pubs avoid 'the excesses of modernity'.
Hanley featured on the list - which was in no particular order - as was described as 'perhaps the best' town in the city for pubs.
Hawkes wrote: "All of Stoke's six towns have decent pubs, but perhaps the best is Hanley, the most central.
"As well as the Coachmakers Arms, with its cosy lounge, tiny snug and central passageway, I like the Golden Cup Inn, recently restored to the tune of £250,000. It was once run by owner Steven Buckley's grandmother, the legendary Betty, but it can rarely have looked as marvellous as it does today – particularly the facade, with its revitalised dark green tiling."
Stockport featured on the list - which was in no particular order - for its selection of 'handsome' historic pubs with great beer selections.
Other towns featured on the list included the Staffordshire town of Burton as well as Stockport and Hastings.
