A former Staffordshire police officer has been sentenced after admitting affray following a violent outburst at his home last year.

Paul Weston, 29, was sentenced on Friday (6 January) at Stafford Crown Court to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.

Weston made threats and was violent towards officers at his home address near Stafford in October 2022.

He was suspended from duty in August 2022 due to an ongoing investigation by the force's Professional Standards Department.

He was consequently dismissed from the force in November 2022.

Deputy Chief Constable Emma Barnett said, "Paul Weston's actions were found to have fallen well below the standard we expect of our police officers and undermine the confidence of the communities we are here to protect.

"He was quite rightly dismissed as his behaviour does not represent the values of our force or Staffordshire Police officers."
