Firefighters tackle deliberate fire at abandoned building in Stoke-on-Trent

Firefighters have tackled a fire at an abandoned building in Stoke-on-Trent this week.

Fire crews and police were called just before 10am on 24 July to reports of a fire inside a building on Upper Hillchurch Street, Hanley.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no one was inside the building and no one was injured.

"It is believed the fire had been caused deliberately and it has been left in the hands of Staffordshire Police."
