Firefighters have extinguished a fire which was started deliberately inside a derelict warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent.

Last night (22 January), fire crews were called to a disused building on Portland Street, Hanley.

Crews from Sandyford, Hanley and Newcastle were sent to the scene at about 5pm and used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish a small fire inside.

Firefighters searched the building to make sure no one was injured and everyone was accounted for.

They then found a pile of rubbish inside the building which had been set alight deliberately.
