A 93-year-old care home resident recently memorialised her late husband - by getting a tattoo.

Sheila, a resident at Shoemaker Place in Stone, decided that the "perfect way" to remember her husband Joe, was through a tattoo.

Accompanied by her son and daughter, Sheila visited Deviant Ink in Stone to get the tattoo, which says: "Joeseph, you are always in my heart".

The couple had been together since they were teenagers, before Joe died last August.

The Shoemaker Place resident explained that the tribute allows her to feel like Joe is "always near".

Sheila got the tattoo with the support of the care home as part of the Borough Care Group's Residents' Wish Initiative.

Sharon Parkes, Customer Relationship Manager at Shoemaker Place, said: "Our residents wish programme enables us to support residents to take part in memorable experiences, it is crucial that we continue to enable choice and independence in our homes.

"We are thrilled we have been able to support Sheila with something which was so special to her."

Last month, the initiative saw another resident, and lifelong Stoke City supporter, Keith, taken on a tour of the Bet365 stadium.
