Fire crews remain in Hanley following derelict nightclub blaze

Fire crews are continuing to dampen down hotspots at the fire in Hanley today.

Multiple crews have been working through the night at Brockley Square after the alarm was raised at 5.45am yesterday.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters and emergency services are taking extra precautions around the area to make sure we can keep people safe and bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

Emergency services say the cause of the blaze will be investigated when it is safe to do so (Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service).

"We are also looking to lift the cordon in place and reopen nearby roads as soon as we can. We know this has caused lots of disruption and we'd like to thank people for their patience and understanding. 

"The cause of the fire will be investigated as soon as its safe to do so."
