Demolition work on a former sheltered housing site in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, is due to begin on 22 January.

Last year, the council confirmed that five former sheltered housing units across Stoke-on-Trent were going to be demolished.

These were:

  • Lady Bennett Court, Longton
  • Doris Robinson Court, Meir
  • Union Court, Hanley
  • Newhouse Court, Abbey Hulton
  • Lily Gertrude Simister Court, Tunstall

Last year the council confirmed that five former sheltered housing sites were going to be demolished (Nub News).

Local councillor, Faisal Hussain, provided local residents with an update on the Doris Robinson Court works recently.

He wrote on social media: ""I have today [9 January] received confirmation that the works to demolish Doris Robinson Court will start on 22nd January and will hopefully be complete by the end of March.

"I know there's been lots of anti-social behaviour issues along here and hopefully this will help alleviate these issues."
