A couple on a pub crawl mission around the country have recently enjoyed a "great day" in two Stoke-on-Trent towns.

Dale and Holly Harvey, of The Great British Pub Crawl, visited Tunstall and Burslem on Saturday 15 June and say they had a "great day with old friends and new".

The Nottingham couple's aim is to visit every single British pub, a venture that has taken them to nearly 3,300 different venues so far.

The couple kicked off their day in Tunstall, visiting The Wheatsheaf where they praised the "really friendly people running the place" and "decent offering on the bar including some ale and real cider".

The couple said The Globe was 'an old pub with nice old style decor and layout' (The Great British Pub Crawl).

They also visited The White Hart, The Coach and Horses, Paradise Inn and The Oddfellows Arms, which they called "a brilliant pub with great atmosphere and another proper school layout.

"You'll also find several awesome offerings from Beartown Brewery on in here which always keep me very happy."

The couple's final stop in Tunstall was at The Globe which they said was "an old pub with nice old style decor and layout, but it feels warmer and more welcoming with a lot more going on".

Dale and Holly then headed into Burslem where they popped into The Vine Inn. Bursley Ale House, The Old Post Office, Post Office Vaults, The Clayhanger, Hog Noggins, The New Inn, Ye Old Crown, Johny's Micro Pub and The Bulls Head.

Dale and Holly visited a total of 17 pubs in Tunstall and Burslem (The Great British Pub Crawl).

The couple praised the "very polite doorman" at The New Inn who "certainly looks like he could handle a situation should the need arise" and described Ye Olde Crown as "a cracking little boozer".

Another favourite was Johny's Micro Pub which they described as "pretty cool and right up my street.

"They've got an overflow room upstairs with some additional seating, a good range of ales on, some top locals in and decent array amongst the kegs. This is a super micropub and definitely worth a visit".

Dale and Holly said Johny's Micro Pub, in Burslem, was 'definitely worth a visit' (The Great British Pub Crawl).

Of Tunstall and Burslem generally, the couple said: "These two towns are in desperate need of some help and investment from the council, far too many buildings boarded up or being left to rot.

"As always, Stoke was full of great friendly people and we had a great day with old friends and new!

"Would have been nice to have found some proper craft beer available somewhere but that doesn't seem to have made it into the area at all as yet..."
