A vacant nightclub in Stoke-on-Trent could be transformed into a new restaurant and four commercial units, if plans are approved by the city council.

A property developer has applied for the "change of use of existing single-storey nightclub to one restaurant and four commercial units" at 27 Pall Mall, Hanley.

The building, which has been empty since 2016, has "progressively deteriorated due to disuse" and the windows have been boarded up to prevent access.

The plans aim to 'transform the existing premises into an exciting place to work and visit' (Image via planning application).

A Design and Access Statement says: "The regeneration of the existing building aims to improve the intrinsic character, appearance and significance of the conservation area whilst positively impacting the visual amenity.

"The aim of the proposed development is to provide new commercial floorspace transforming the existing premises into an exciting place to work and visit. The design aim is to rejuvinate the existing neglected brownfield site.

"The large shop fronts will aid in promoting businesses to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, creating a sense of identity and place."

The building has been empty since 2016 and the windows have been boarded up (Google).

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months; the full planning application can be viewed here.
