Plans for a brand-new housing development in Stoke-on-Trent have recently been approved by the city council.

Mr Ian Matthews applied for permission to build three townhouses and two flats on currently vacant land off Summerville Road in Trent Vale.

The townhouses will both be three-bedroom and the flats will each have one bedroom.

Eight car parking spaces for residents will also be created on the site along with four cycle spaces.

A planning statement submitted as part of the application states: "The buildings will be of hipped roof design and constructed of red facing brickwork and blue/ grey roofing tiles to Local Authority approval.

The privately-owned land between Summerville Road and Bridge Road is currently vacant and fenced off (Nub News).

"Each house will benefit from two off road parking spaces and a private rear garden, with the flats each having a single parking space and a shared rear garden. Both flats will have a separate pedestrian entrance.

"Vehicular access to the houses will be taken directly off Summerville Road, and the flats off Bridge Road."

These plans were approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council on 9 January.

The Officer's Report says: "As the site is currently vacant within a residential area and given the need for additional housing, there would be no immediate presumption against re-developing the site for this purpose."
