A new beauty and aesthetics clinic has become one of the latest additions to a Stoke-on-Trent high street.

Local mum Leigh Hurst opened Beauty From The Art Studio & Aesthetics in Longton at the beginning of September.

Since opening above Sun-Berni Tanning on The Strand, the business has gone from strength to strength, with Leigh explaining that she is "constantly booking people in".

The beauty and aesthetics practitioner – who has worked in the industry for 15 years – said: "I was out with my friend in Longton and we saw this shop being done up.

"At first I thought, 'oh, a new sunbed shop,' and then I thought 'oh, a room'.

"It was pretty much perfect for me. As soon as the salon started opening, I inquired and I fell in love with this room."

At Beauty From The Art Studio & Aesthetics, there is a wide range of treatments and services available including facials, anti-wrinkle treatments, lip enhancements and massages.

The studio also offers vitamin B12 and Lipo Lab fat dissolving treatments.

To ensure that clients receive the right treatment for them, Leigh offers free consultations.

She said: "I like to make sure that my clients are comfortable and reassure them.

"I know 'beauty is pain', but it is important to check if clients are comfortable or if they need to stop for five minutes.

"That's how I was taught by my trainer. She trained me to be patient, she trained me the way I should be trained."

Leigh has previously worked as a beautician around the city but has recently added aesthetics to her list of qualifications after passing her exams "with flying colours".

She attributes her confidence with these new skills to her trainer Fathema Henna, founder of FH Artistry Academy.

"Since working with Fathema I've been doing really well," Leigh said.

"I've been giving nothing but my best service to my clients, always making sure they're comfortable before, during and even after their desired treatment.

"This has made me want to now complete my advanced level of aesthetics with Fathema to widen my target audience and offer a variety of treatments for my clients to choose from."

For Leigh, the comfort and satisfaction of her clients is always at the forefront of her work, and she stressed that her treatments are as much about the experience of receiving them as they are about the end result.

"I like making people feel better about themselves," she added.

Helping people feel better is also something that Leigh aims to do in her spare time as a volunteer peer mentor for Concrete, a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness.

"Community is really important," she said.

"I love doing my volunteering because it feels like there is a sense of purpose, that you're doing something good."

As well as her personal passion for beauty and the community, Leigh is motivated by caring for her seven-year-old daughter, who has autism.

Leigh explained that looking after a child with additional needs alongside starting her own business has been "very hard", but she is excited to be following her passion and building a life for her family.

She said: "I'm doing this for her.

"My goal is to open a chain, but I also want my child to have the best life she can ever have."
