An Indian restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent has been shortlisted in a national curry competition.

Ali's Kitchen, an already award-winning Bangladeshi and Indian restaurant on The Strand in Longton, has been shortlisted in the second British Curry Championship 2026.

The restaurant is one of the finalists in the chef of the year category.

This comes just months after Muhammed, chef and owner of Ali's Kitchen, was crowned 'Best Chef of the Year' at The Curry Life Awards 2025 in October.

The event, organised by Oceanic Awards, recognises and celebrates the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the curry industry.

The awards aim to spotlight Britain's diverse curry culture and encourage the continued growth and evolution of the industry.

Oceanic Awards explained that those shortlisted have distinguished themselves with their "exceptional quality, innovation, and consistency in offering a truly memorable dining experience".

Yasmin Mahmood, CEO of Oceanic Awards said: "We look forward to once again celebrating the finest in the British curry scene, recognising the creativity, innovation, and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved cuisine.

"The curry industry has become a vital part of our culture, and these awards recognised the exceptional talents of the individuals and businesses that make it so special.

"We want to congratulate all of our finalists and wish them the best of luck."

Ali's kitchen will find out if they will be crowned winner and take the trophy home at a black tie ceremony that will take place on 29 June at the Grand Station in Wolverhampton.
