Woman suffers serious burns after tent fire in Stoke-on-Trent

Staffordshire Police are appealing for information after a woman suffered serious burns following a tent fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers were called at around midday yesterday (Thursday 1 January 2026) to New Hall Street in Hanley following reports of a tent on fire.

A woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance after suffering extensive burns to her arms and legs.

She remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Officers closed Marsh Street at the junction of Trinity Street while emergency services attended the scene. 

Staffordshire Police said that inquiries are continuing and urged anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 407 of 1 January.
