Woman in hospital with ‘life-threatening injuries’ after air ambulance spotted in Stoke

A woman has been taken to hospital with 'life-threatening injuries' after an air ambulance was called to Penkhull, Stoke-on-Trent.

Families of students at Thistley Hough Academy told Stoke Nub News that the school had been placed in a precautionary lockdown, with students and staff unable to leave for around an hour. 

Police and ambulances scrambled to the scene on The Croft, where a woman was found with 'life-threatening injuries'.

A nearby school was placed in a lockdown whilst the air ambulance landed (West Midlands Ambulance Service).

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.22am to an incident at the junction of The Croft and Thistley Hough in Penkhull. 

"Upon arrival we found a woman who was assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries. 

"She received treatment at the scene and was conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital via land ambulance for further treatment."

Stoke Nub News has contacted Staffordshire Police for a statement.
