The operator of Winter Wonderland Stoke-on-Trent is 'delighted to be back' for Christmas 2024. Families had feared a repeat of 2022 when Winter Wonderland never took place in Hanley.

But fairground rides appeared on the Birch Terrace site yesterday – and previous regeneration plans for the area have been shelved.

Event organiser Michelle Matthews said: "We've had an 11th hour decision, in conjunction with Stoke-on-Trent City Council giving us the go-ahead. It's very, very long awaited, it's been a very long and drawn-out process but we seem to have got somewhere in the end. We're really delighted that we're going to be bringing it back to the city."

Winter Wonderland 2024 is promising funfair rides, a 'huge' ice rink, and festive food and drink – as well as a 'new' Santa experience.

In a social media post to fans, Winter Wonderland added: "We are delighted to be back. It's been a long process and the turnaround time is short. Our small team are on site and behind the scenes working round the clock to ensure your much-loved Winter Wonderland is extra-special again this year. As a family we can't thank you enough for your continued support and loyalty – it's why we are back. Home is where the heart is."
