A week of "essential works" are due to begin on a major Stoke-on-Trent road today (30 September).

Severn Trent confirmed that a set of three-way traffic lights will be placed on Victoria Road, Fenton, between 30 September and 7 October, although at time of publication, the lights have not yet been installed.

The lights - which will be placed near the turning for Wileman Street - will allow Severn Trent carry out "utility repair and maintenance works".

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "Essential works are going ahead on Victoria Road to fix a blocked and damaged sewer pipe.

"For the safety of the public and our teams temporary traffic lights have been set up, and we will work to get everything fixed and the road put back to normal as quickly as possible.

"We understand this can be an inconvenience and we want to thank everyone for their patience while our works take place."
