A vacant British Legion Club in Stoke-on-Trent could be converted into flats if a planning application is approved.
An application has been submitted to convert the vacant Meir and Longton British Legion Club building into six self-contained, one-bedroom flats.
The site, located on Meir Road, Normacot, currently has one bedsit on the first floor, while the ground floor was used as a community space.
There are four parking spaces on the site, which falls short of the council's 'emerging parking standards' which require one parking space per bed.
The local highways authority commented: "Given the parking provision is a shortfall, the applicant will need to justify this and confirm what travel planning measures would be in place to encourage sustainable travel and reduce the reliance on a private car."
An objection has also been submitted by Ann Beeston, Air Quality Officer, Public Protection Division for Stoke-on-Trent City Council, who has called for an air quality assessment.
Ms Beeston said: "The development site is adjacent to the A50 trunk road; therefore I am concerned that residents may be introduces into an area of poor air quality as a result of vehicle emissions."
Stoke-on-Trent City Council planning officers have yet to make a decision on the application.
