Tunstall's £4.5m public realm plans - how to have your say

Residents are being asked for feedback on massive £4.5million plans to improve a Stoke-on-Trent town centre.
Based on earlier feedback, four areas in Tunstall have been identified where funding could make the biggest impact.
One of the proposed measures includes replacing the underpass which connects the memorial gardens to The Boulevard with a surface level crossing. However based on feedback in the latest round of consultations this could change.
At the moment, four public realm interventions have been identified across the town centre. However no final decision on the plans has been made and the council is urging residents to submit feedback to further enhance the plans.
The four areas include the High Street, which could see the pavement widened around the town hall and a reduction in the speed limit to 20mph. Tower Square will see new greenery added to the space and play equipment; this would involve a reduction in car parking spaces currently in operation.
Butterfield Place could be redesigned to provide a 'high-quality' gateway into the town and provide an opportunity for new outdoor market stalls. It is hoped that all the measures will help connect the town centre to the Jasper Square and Alexandra Retail Park and encourage people to spend more time in the town centre.
This follows an initial consultation held in March over the plans. The latest round of consultation had three events in July – two at the market and the other at Mill Field Primary School. The deadline for submitting responses to the consultation is the end of July.

Tunstall resident Allison Grocott welcomed the proposals, but raised concerns over anti-social behaviour. She said: "I think the plans are good, however we need to get the troublemakers sorted out first. I think based on what I've heard that if they get it all done it should look nice but I don't know if that will make people come to Tunstall."
The plans in Tunstall are part of plans to spread £6 million in government cash across three towns to increase footfall and boost business activity. Other towns receiving funding are Burslem and Stoke.
It is hoped that the feedback from this round of consultations will be analysed before final plans are agreed. The deadline for spending the levelling-up funding is March 2027, so if the money is not spent by then it will be returned to the government.
Shopper Victoria Moulton said: "I rarely come to Tunstall, however it is nice to see there are plans for the area. I often think with these, what could be wonderful buildings and history that it could be so much better than it is. Instead of talking about it they should just get on and do it."
Speaking previously Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and regeneration at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: "We really want as many people as possible to feedback on these exciting plans which will help to breathe new life into Burslem, Stoke and Burslem town centres.
"The regeneration proposals we have set out will improve the economic viability of the towns, help better link key parts of the towns and are being developed to complement the other exciting project work taking place.
"So, it is vital to hear residents' priorities for spending the money and to use these ideas to shape the final plan ready for work to start later this year."
