Demolition of takeaway building underway after car crash

A takeaway in Stoke-on-Trent is being demolished after a car crashed into the building this morning.
A car ploughed into Rose Fast Food on Scotia Road, in Burslem, early this morning (20 July) leaving the front of the building completely destroyed.
The city council's dangerous structures team concluded the building needed to be pulled down to allow Scotia Road to reopen to traffic and pedestrians.
The emergency services were first alerted to the incident at 6am today and Staffordshire Police has confirmed all the occupants of the building were uninjured after the crash.
One man was taken to hospital and the force says his injuries are "not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time".
Stoke-on-Trent Council Leader, Jane Ashworth, said on social media: "The young man crashed into the corner shop at 6am. Before 6.30 am the council's emergency team was there. Cadent and the National Grid soon were there too.
"The Dangerous Structures Team say it's not possible to make Scotia Rd safe to walk or drive on with the building still standing. So, it's within the council's legal rights to knock it down today. That's the plan and demolition contractors are on site now."

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to Scotia Road at 6am today (Sunday 20 July) following reports of a car colliding with a building.
"One man has been taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.
"The occupants of the building were not injured.
"Officers are at the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"Our investigation is ongoing."
