Three men have been convicted over a stabbing during a pre-planned fight in Stoke-on-Trent last year.

Dominik Kulak, 19, of Wem, Shrewsbury, admitted violent disorder, wounding without intent and possession of a bladed article at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 3 January).

Edward Lewis, 19, of Calverhall in Whitchurch and Tyler Newman, 19, of Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, both admitted one count of violent disorder.

Newman also admitted possession of an offensive weapon at an earlier hearing.

The court heard how the victim, an 18-year-old male, attended The Avenue in Hartshill, on 9 April 2022 believing he was going to fight a lone man.

However, upon arrival, the victim was confronted by the three offenders, with Newman carrying a baseball bat.

Kulak then produced a knife and stabbed the victim three times - in the bowel, liver and right leg, before all three offenders fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries and later underwent extensive surgery.

He has since been discharged from hospital though he has sustained life-changing injuries.

The offenders were quickly identified following a review of CCTV footage and were arrested.

They were subsequently charged and later pleaded guilty to the offences.

All three men have been granted conditional bail ahead of a sentencing hearing due at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 17 March.
