A Stoke-on-Trent artist is showcasing the 'sights and sounds' of this city in a local exhibition.

Sean Armstrong, from Chell, is currently displaying his photography at the U7 Arts and Culture Centre in Longton.

This is the 40-year-old artist's first exhibition after starting amateur photography in 2005 and starting to pursue a professional career last year.

Sean – whose photography primarily features Stoke-on-Trent – said: "I think there's a lot of potential in Stoke for landscape artists like myself."

He added: "We have some really good landmarks in Stoke and we're close to some really nice countryside as well."

The exhibition, titled Sights and Sounds of Stoke-on-Trent, began on 7 August and will run until 31 October.

Sean, who has autism and a disability, said that watching his first exhibition come to life was "exhilarating".

He said: "It was so nice to see others taking an interest in my work."

The photographer also added that the team at U7 Arts and Culture Centre - which regularly hosts exhibitions of local artists – were "incredibly supportive".

Following Sights and Sounds of Stoke-on-Trent, Sean hopes to continue growing his career as a photographer with ambitions for further exhibitions as well as selling his services as a photographer.
