Three Stoke-on-Trent businesses fined for using illegal workers

Three businesses in Stoke-on-Trent have been fined a combined total of £255,000 after being caught using illegal workers by immigration enforcement.
The two takeaways and one beauty salon were penalised following the latest Government update on illegal working civil penalties, covering the period of July 1 to September 30 last year, published this month.
The three businesses have been listed in the report because they have not paid and are not making regular payments towards the penalty.
Hollywood Nails And Beauty on Huntbach Street, in Hanley, was given a civil penalty of £45,000.
Imranz Takeaway on Heathcote Street, in Longton, was given a civil penalty of £120,000.
Today Restaurant on Waterloo Road, in Burslem, was given a civil penalty of £90,000.
The Government website says: "This quarterly report lists employers in the UK that have received fines (civil penalties) for illegal working.
"The report lists fines given to employers who have not paid or are not making regular payments towards a penalty 28 days after they have exhausted all their objection and/or appeal rights.
"Employers who have been served with a second or further penalty once they have exhausted all their objection and/or appeal rights regardless of whether any payment has been made."
