Two men and a teenage boy have been arrested after a car was stolen in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

It comes after a teenage boy was reportedly "dragged out" of a car by five young men, before the car was involved in a crash with a planter on Knutton Road.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called at 5pm on Friday (12 June) to a car park close to football fields on Lower Milehouse Lane following reports that a teenage boy had been dragged out of a black Mercedes by five young men who then stole the car.

"The boy was left shaken but unhurt."

The black Mercedes was then involved in a collision with a planter on Knutton Road.

Staffordshire Police said the car was then abandoned on the road and five people ran off.

Officers arrested three people a "short time later".

A 22-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, all from Newcastle-under-Lyme, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.
