Terrorism offence suspect arrested in Stoke-on-Trent

Police officers have this morning (2 April) arrested a man on suspicion of terrorism offences in Stoke-on-Trent.

A 28-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was detained following a pre-planned and intelligence-led operation, Staffordshire Police said on Wednesday morning.

The man is suspected of supporting a proscribed organisation and inciting racial hatred.

There was no information released by the force on the location of the arrest within the city.

A Spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Police have today (Wednesday) arrested a 28-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent on suspicion of terrorism offences.

"The man was detained following a pre-planned and intelligence-led operation.

"He was arrested on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation and inciting racial hatred."
