A man has been arrested following a series of violent incidents in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police believe two stabbings on Friday in Bentilee, a stabbing in Longton and an incident where a blank firing weapon was found in Joiners Square on Saturday, are all linked.

A 29-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested yesterday (31 March) on suspicion of aggravated burglary and he is currently in police custody.

Staffordshire Police said on Saturday (29 March) that officers were looking for two men in connection with the first stabbing in Bentilee.

Temporary detective chief inspector Nathan Hough, from CID, said: "I want to reassure residents that detectives are working hard to investigate these incidents, which are linked, and progress enquiries at pace.

"Behaviour like this has no place in our communities and we will continue to do everything possible to investigate the circumstances and take action against those responsible.

"I would appeal to anyone with any information to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

The chain of events started on Friday 28 March when officers were called to a home on Wellfield Road, Bentilee, following a report that a man had been stabbed.

At a similar time on the same road, officers were told that a blue car had been stolen after being followed by two men on an off-road motorcycle.

A woman driving the car collided with a motorbike during the incident and the male passenger of the car was stabbed. Their injuries are not believed to be serious and they have now both been discharged from hospital.

The two men left the scene and the car was later found abandoned on a car park off Plainfield Grove, Bentilee.

The following day, on Saturday (29 March) Staffordshire Police received a report that two men had forced their way into a property near Heathcote Street, Longton.

A man inside was stabbed and a mobile phone was stolen. His injuries were not serious and the two men left the scene on an off-road motorbike.

Around 20 minutes later, armed officers went to Dean Place, Joiners Square, after receiving a report of a firearm being discharged.

After searching the area and finding a blank-firing weapon and blank-firing ammunition, an off-road motorbike was found abandoned.

Staffordshire Police is appealing for any information, particularly CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage. Call 101, quoting incident 59 of 29 March, or use Live Chat on the website.
