An 18-year-old has opened his own hardware and DIY stall in a Stoke-on-Trent market.

After finishing college, teenager Riley decided to start his own business by opening True Grain DIY and Hardware at Longton Market.

The stall officially opened on Wednesday (29 July) and sells a range of DIY essentials, hardware, decorating equipment and fixings.

On starting a new business at 18, Riley said: "It's obviously not the easiest and there's lots of paperwork.

"But I've been supported by parents and family, and it's been pretty smooth surprisingly."

Riley believes that the equipment, tools and services that he is offering are bringing something new not only to the market, but also the wider town.

On the days that the market is closed, Riley is also offering carpentry, repairs and handyman services.

Riley already has experience in the market, after helping his mum on her own stall Raven and Stars Crafts which opened around two years ago.

The teenager explained that there is a growing number of young entrepreneurs in the market and added: "There's quite a lot of stuff here now for younger people."
