Tea room installs bee hives in Stoke-on-Trent park

A family-run tea room in a Stoke-on-Trent park is hoping to produce local honey after installing two new bee hives.
The Pavilion Tea Room in Burslem Park welcomed the bees into their new homes in the cafe's allotment last week.
The team behind the tea room hopes that once they start collecting honey later in the summer, they will be able to sell jars of Burslem Park Honey to locals.
Emma Smith of the Pavilion Tea Room, explained that having bees had been a long term plan.
She said: "We had talked about bees prior to even taking over the building really because the park needs some extra things to start building on."

For Emma and her husband David, who has recently completed a beekeeping course, this is the first time they have kept bees and she described this as a "whole new learning process".
The Pavilion Tea Room, which opened in February of last year, hopes to continue expanding its offering and supporting the local community.
Now that the bee hives have been installed, the tea room has turned its attention to opening a community room later in the year.
