Stoke woman arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following 'unexpected' death of man in Hanley

A woman from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested in custody on suspicion of manslaughter after the death of a man in Hanley this week.

Staffordshire Police received reports of a man in cardiac arrest at a property on Eastfield Drive, Hanley, shortly after 2.05am on Wednesday.

Sadly, a 34-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later. His family continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.

A cordon has been set up at the address whilst officers carry out their enquiries.

The death is being treated as unexpected.

The man was pronounced dead a short time after police and paramedics arrived at the address (West Midlands Ambulance Service).

A 43-year-old woman, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Another woman, aged 41, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs. She was further arrested in custody on suspicion of manslaughter.

Both have since been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
