Stoke-on-Trent residents are being encouraged to celebrate the Kings Coronation in May by hosting their own street parties and events.

The Coronation will take place on 6 May and many events are planned across Stoke-on-Trent, including at Potteries Museum & Art Gallery.

In his role as the Prince of Wales, His Majesty visited Stoke-on-Trent on a number of occasions, including visits to various locations across Hanley.

People who wish to host a small community event can apply for a road closure on their District or Borough Council website.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is inviting residents to register their own celebratory event online (Stoke-on-Trent City Council).

If an event requires the closure of a larger road, is ticketed, or alcohol will be sold, residents should use the County Council website.

Councillor Simon Tagg said: "We want people to be able to enjoy the Coronation, as part of what is going to be a fantastic weekend of celebrations.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to come together with friends, family, and your local community to be part of history.

"I do hope that people are able to join in and organise their own activities, street parties and fairs."

Residents can view events happening in Stoke-on-Trent at https://coronation.gov.uk.

People who are hosting a public event, street party or activity to celebrate the Coronation are invited to list their event on an interactive map.
