A Stoke-on-Trent based charity has established a brand-new "inclusive SEND football group" in the city.
Project Indi, a grassroots charity in Sneyd Green who support vulnerable and disabled adults, children and their families, has partnered with Stoke City Foundation and Staffordshire Football Association to deliver inclusive football sessions.
The charity explained that the football sessions, which take place every Friday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, were established in response to their members enthusiasm to be a part of a sports team and their love for football.
Marie, Adults Services Lead for Project Indi, which provides day opportunities and social groups for individuals with additional needs, said: "Indi FC began as a number of our adult members are really into their football.
"We wanted to dedicate a specific time to allow the football team to grow, with Gemma from Staff FA and Lewis from Stoke City Foundation helping to set this up. With the skills of our very own Coach Caddy, this is thriving and we're looking to competing later in the year!"
The sessions take place at The Indi Club on Ralph Drive, Sneyd Green, where the group have been training with volunteer coach Archie Caddy for the last few weeks.
Natasha, CEO of Project Indi, said: "As CEO of our charity, I am delighted to see this exciting initiative come to life. This programme represents far more than just football — it is about opportunity, inclusion, confidence, and community.
"Importantly, this initiative is not only creating opportunities for our members — it is also supporting the development of one of our own volunteers, Archie Caddy."
Natasha explained that Archie is being supported through his coaching qualification as part of the programme, allowing him to develop professionally while giving back to the community and helping to empower Project Indi members.
She added: "This project reflects our ongoing commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability or background, has the chance to participate in sport.
"Football has the power to bring people together, build confidence, and create lasting friendships — and this team embodies exactly that spirit.
"We would like to thank The FA and everyone involved at the Indi Club for their partnership and shared commitment to inclusion."
