Stoke-on-Trent City Council said they have a "unique opportunity" to consider a different location for Stoke's festive funfair.

Winter Wonderland has been held in Hanley since 2016, but the event did not go ahead last year as its usual Birch Terrace car park site was awaiting redevelopment.

Organisers have applied for permission to install an ice rink and associated facilities including skate hire ticket sales office, fairground rides, attractions, wooden chalets, gaming arcade, food outlets and licenced bar on the car park.

Stoke Nub News reached out to the council for more information and Councillor Duncan Walker said: "We have received a planning application in relation to Winter Wonderland Stoke-on-Trent which will be considered through our usual planning processes.

"We have a unique opportunity to consider the application this year, as we look at the wider plans for the development of Etruscan Square."

According to the Winter Wonderland website, the attraction will run from 24 November to 7 January 2024.

Stoke Nub News has approached Winter Wonderland for more information.
