Plans have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for a new convenience store to open inside an empty unit in the city.

93-99 Lichfield Street, Hanley, is a former print store but has been empty since Qwerty Print Solutions vacated.

Last week, the printing company applied for permission to change the use of the site from a workshop to a retail unit for a convenience store.

The new shop would employ three staff (two full-time and one part-time) and be open 7am until 11pm everyday including bank holidays.

Qwerty Print Solutions has applied for permission to change the use from a workshop to a retail unit (Nub News).

The unit currently has four car parking spaces and no changes are proposed as part of the application.

A decision is expected regarding this application in the coming months.
