A homelessness charity in Stoke-on-Trent has opened a food pantry at their head office in Stoke.
This month, thanks to funding from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Concrete stocked up on food and toiletries for customers living in their properties across Stoke.
Items available include tinned foods, such as vegetables, tuna and beans, pasta, cereal, juice, tea, sugar and long-life milk. There's also cleaning products, washing powder, toilet paper and toiletries including deodorant, shampoo and feminine hygiene products.
As we continue to experience the current cost-of-living crisis, the charity say that this kind of support is more important than ever.
Service Manager Dean Marsh said: "We're really excited about being able to offer the pantry to our customers in the community.
"Times are really tough at the moment and everyone is feeling the pinch. Our customers have faced homelessness and know first-hand how difficult it is. We don't want our customers to have to choose between heating and eating. We want them to have everything they need in one easy place.
"Simply giving somebody a home doesn't end homelessness. We have to deliver support alongside that. This includes practical help, like the pantry.
"We're looking forward to expanding the pantry this year and turning it into a one-stop shop for customers to find everything they need.
"We'd also like to say a huge thank you to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for supporting us with winter funding and making the pantry possible."
