A man has been jailed after turning up at a woman's house and place of work in Newcastle-under-Lyme and repeatedly sending unwanted messages.

Christian Leipacher, 52, of Dudley, was sentenced to two-years-and-four-months in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (20 February) after he admitted stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

Detective Constable Rachel Cope, from the Staffordshire Police public protection unit, said: "I'm pleased we've been able to secure this outcome for the victim in this case despite the offender's attempts to deny any wrongdoing.

"His actions have caused a great deal of alarm and distress and have rightfully been recognised in court."

Staffordshire Police explained that Leipacher sent a string of unwanted messages and emails to the victim before turning up outside her house and her place of work, between August and September last year.

The victim then fled her place of work and reported what happened to the police.

Leipacher was brought in for questioning, where he told officers that had not been stalking the victim.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers worked tirelessly to build the evidence despite this, resulting in Leipacher being charged with the offence."

As part of his sentencing, he was also served with an indefinite restraining order against the victim, banning him from contacting her in any way.

Staffordshire Police urged victims of stalking, get in touch with them by calling 101 or using Live Chat on their website.
