Staffordshire teenager stabbed to death in Wolverhampton park

A teenager from Staffordshire was stabbed to death in West Park, Wolverhampton, on Thursday 7 March (SWNS).
A teenager from Staffordshire was stabbed to death in West Park, Wolverhampton, on Thursday 7 March (SWNS).

Police have released a picture of 17-year-old Harleigh Hepworth, from Staffordshire, who was stabbed to death in a park in broad daylight.

Harleigh was knifed in West Park in Wolverhampton at around 4.30pm on Thursday (7 March).

Officers and paramedics scrambled to the scene but he died a short time later.

A police spokesman said: ''Our enquiries into the death of 17-year-old Harleigh Hepworth in Wolverhampton's West Park are today continuing.

Harleigh Hepworth, from Staffordshire, was stabbed to death in a Wolverhampton park last week (West Midlands Police).

''The teenager from Staffordshire was fatally stabbed at around 4.30pm on Thursday (7 March).

''We're following a number of lines of enquiry to catch who was responsible for his tragic death.

''A cordon around the park has now been lifted but you can expect to see a visible presence in the area as part of our investigation and to offer reassurance.

''A teenager has lost his life and we're working round the clock to get justice for Harleigh and his family.

Police and paramedics attended the scene but Harleigh sadly died a short time later (SWNS).

''We continue to work tirelessly with partners to steer young people away from violence with weapons.
