A Leek resident has opened a new garden in honour of her 19th century ancestor.
Mary Hall, a resident at Hen Cloud House in Leek, visited the John Hall Wellness Gardens on Thursday 30 October to open a new area that has been planted on her behalf.
John Hall was a prominent 19th century silk merchant who also served as Justice of the Peace.
He also happens to be Mary's grandfather in law - Mary had joined the Hall family when she married her husband, who was John Hall's grandson.
The Wellness Garden was named in John Hall's honour after his death in the 1930s to support mental well-being.

The new area features plants purchased by Hen Cloud House where Mary lives, as well as a plaque which she officially unveiled during her visit.
Sharon Parkes, Customer Relationship Manager at Borough Care, also said: "I was delighted to organise the event with the team at John Hall Wellness Gardens and would like to thank Marc Woodly, Contracts Manager, and Tim Taylor, Head Gardener, for their kind input into creating the space for Mary and her fellow residents, we look forward to enjoying the space and seeing the plants bloom next year".
Hen Cloud House is a 66-bed care home based in Leek, Staffordshire, run by care home group Borough Care. It aims to combine a luxury setting with the "highest standards of care".
