Nurses from Newcastle-under-Lyme have been names Care Home Team of the Year at a West Midlands Awards ceremony.
The accolade, won by Belong Newcastle-under Lyme's nurse team, is one of three trophies won by the dementia specialist at the West Midlands regional heats of the Great British Care Awards.
Finalists representing the Lower Street care village celebrated the wins for their work supporting older people to enjoy active later lives in a caring community.
The hotly-contested Care Home Team Award went to the Village Nurse Team for Belong's community nursing-style approach.
The approach sees residents 'age in place' thanks to its nurses working across the whole village, rather than relocating residents within their home, as is typically found in care settings.
Judges celebrated the nine-strong group and said: "They tailor care for individuals, embrace holistic, person-centred approaches, [as well as] provide compassionate end-of-life support for residents and families."
Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme accepted the Care Innovator Award for its assistance lobbying for resident Pauline Dawson to become one of the town's first female Burgesses after she spent more than 20 years campaigning for women to be given a ceremonial title normally reserved for men.
The achievement has been marked with a special Burgesses display in the Belong Heritage Gallery, the landmark museum and exhibition space integrated within the village.
Finally, volunteer Yasmin Platt was commended for her dedication to both residents and colleagues, with judges commending her "selfless, committed, and compassionate efforts" supporting village customers, many of whom live with dementia.
Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme general manager, Josephine Mollison, said: "We are so proud of our team for their wins at the Great British Care Awards, and are delighted to see their commitment and impact recognised in this way."
Other village colleagues attaining finalist placings were: Mehrab Rahman (Care Home Newcomer), Jessica Tilstone (Care Home Worker), Nicola Oxton (Palliative / End-of-Life Care), Stefania Floreana (Innovator in Care), Shelley Hartford (Ancillary Worker) and Brampton House colleagues (Care Home Team).
The annual Great British Care Awards acknowledge those working in the care sector throughout the UK, with winners from November's regional finals advancing to national awards in early 2026.
The news follows Belong's recent win at the prestigious HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards 2025 having taken the title for Operator of the Year for its holistic approach to care, breaking the mould of the 'traditional care home' by promoting an active lifestyle for customers.
