Stoke takeaway and taxi company work together to fund mental health books in schools
Sizzlers and Lucky Seven Taxis have partnered up to fund and deliver mental health awareness books to schools across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
The popular takeaway and taxi company are generously funding the delivery of hundreds of books to local schools in memory of 14-year-old Charley Pointon who sadly passed away last month.
There are five different books in every pack, exploring topics around mental health, staying safe online, friendship and looking after your health.
Sizzlers owner, Arfan Mohammed, told Nub News: "The packs will be going to school libraries for any child to take and read, if the school requires any more then we can arrange to do that.
"We will be delivering to high schools first but in partnership with Lucky Seven Taxis we are aiming to reach out to the whole county and make sure the books are available in all schools.
"With the help of Lucky Seven our target is to donate books to around three or four schools a week."
Sizzlers is also donating £1 from every Charley's Galaxy Milkshake sold to the funding and delivery of the mental health books.
Arfan continued, "Charley was a regular customer of ours and she used to love a Galaxy Milkshake so in memory of her we renamed the milkshake to Charley's Galaxy Milkshake and we will be donating £1 from every sale to the books in her memory.
"We want to make sure her memory lives forever and because of her, this change happened."
Lucky Seven Taxis is the biggest taxi firm in Staffordshire and has hundreds of cabs available across the county - to find out more check out the website or app.
If it wasn't for sponsors like Sizzlers, our news site would not be possible - thank you.
