Serious flat fire in Stoke-on-Trent being treated as arson

Staffordshire Police have confirmed that they are treating the fire at flats in Meir yesterday morning as arson.

Police and fire crews were called at 4am yesterday morning (11 September) to reports of a fire at a two-storey building off Brookwood Drive, Meir.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Witnesses have described two people walking away from the flats, heading towards Lansbury Grove, at the time the fire started. One is described as wearing a white/grey jacket and the other wore dark clothing. All had their hoods up. 

"If you saw anyone suspicious in the area at the time or anyone who may have any information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that can help with our investigation, get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 63 of 11 September, or by using Live Chat on our website.

"To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
