Residents told reports of car cruising at a Stoke-on-Trent racing hotspot have fallen

Residents living near a racing hotspot have been told reports of car cruising have fallen sharply in recent months.
Senior police officers told a meeting of the Sandyford and Goldenhill Residents Association (SAGE) that there have been no reports of car cruising on Reginald Mitchell Way since November.
Previously, residents have called for cameras to tackle the issue, while SAGE has sought volunteers for a community speedwatch scheme.
Staffordshire Police have also taken action to tackle boy racers including issuing notices to seize vehicles and dispersing people who were causing distress.
Sergeant Robert Emanuel told the meeting: "At the meeting in September I gave some assurances around Reginald Mitchell Way. I said I would get patrols onto the road and I have done that, and I've made a conscious effort over a period of time.
"I do appreciate that things go unreported but in terms of our systems, we've had no car cruising calls recorded since November last year. I do think thanks to your feedback and the things I took away that we've made a positive change there."
However, residents at the meeting questioned the figures, saying problems were still continuing along the road, while others mentioned that boy racers would be likely to return in the Spring and Summer during the later nights.
In response residents were told to report every incident and that the seasonality of racers on the road would be something the police proactively look at to reduce incidents.
Sergeant Emanuel added: "I urge you to report these matters, call it in because my figures are showing that nothing has been called in. So I would think and Staffordshire Police would think calls are down, it's okay.
"Please report it in. The more calls we have, the more eyes are focused on it and we approach it from a problem solving approach."
