Reform UK win Stoke-on-Trent City Council by-election

Reform UK have won their first council seat in Stoke-on-Trent.

Luke Shenton won the Birches Head & Northwood ward seat on Stoke-on-Trent City Council for his party in Thursday's by-election. 

He received 1,226 votes, ahead of Labour's Maggie Bradley with 449 votes, City Independents candidate Jean Ann Bowers with 346 votes and Conservative Khawar Ali with 73 votes.

The turnout was 28.11% and the result was declared just after midnight on Friday 16 May.

Mr Shenton was Reform UK's candidate for the Stoke-on-Trent Central parliamentary seat in last year's general election, where he came second.
