A new garden room and three pergolas are planned as part of improvements to a popular pub in Stoke-on-Trent.

An external kitchen in the garden area, smoking shelter and buggy park are also proposed for the Hem Heath at Stanley Matthews Way, Trentham.

A planning application has been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council seeking permission for various external works including replacement entrance porches, timber cladding and window awnings. The existing yard area is also set to be extended to the north, with new timber fencing.

A letter submitted to the council as part of the application said: "The proposals will enable the public house and grounds to be updated, modernised and maintained to meet present day operational and customer demands.

"The proposed works will enable significant investment into the continued use as of the facility as a public house, ensuring its retention and enhancement as a local community facility and its long-term sustainability."
