Prolific thief stole more than £2000-worth of goods in Stoke-on-Trent

A prolific thief from Stoke-on-Trent who stole more than £2,000-worth of goods from people and city businesses has pleaded guilty in court.
Gavin Tweats, 36, of Northwood, stole items from shops and people's vehicles in a spree of offences which started in March this year.
Tweats filled a carrier bag full of electronic goods worth £1,391 in Boots on Upper Market Square in Hanley and left without paying.
The 36-year-old also took clothing and tools from a van on Turner Street before taking a bank card and £350 cash that was in a car.
He was tracked down by officers from Staffordshire Police on Friday (20 June) when he was spotted in Northwood Park and he was arrested.
He has now pleaded guilty to all of the charges in court and will be sentenced in July.
Sergeant Chris Gifford, from the Stoke North local policing team, said: "We know how important burglary and theft rank in the priorities of people living and working in the city, and we're continuing to act against those responsible.
"Tweats took from various different businesses and people in Stoke-on-Trent. He used people's own money for his own personal gain and has been brought to account for his actions in court."
