A long-standing snooker and pool club in Stoke-on-Trent has expanded its current offering with a brand new kitchen.

Longton Snooker and Pool Club has been running for 40 years and currently has over 4,000 members across various levels and opened 'Pocket Bites' this week.

The club, on Normacot Road, has converted a shipping container in its beer garden into a kitchen so they are able to offer a larger food menu throughout the day.

A diversification of the club's offering took place last year with a new extension leading the the addition of seven pool tables, five darts boards and a 98-inch TV showing live sports.

Since then there has been a surge in demand to play darts and snooker at the club with more younger players getting involved.

Zak Shepherd, one of the three owners, said: "We have worked hard to turn the business from an old-fashioned snooker club kind of vibe, to more of a community base offering a lot of things.

"We have a lot of members and we try to offer them the best facilities and like now with the kitchen, we are looking for a way to offer better food.

"We're doing smash burgers, loaded fries, nachos and in the morning we'll be doing full breakfast, breakfast wraps and oatcakes of course.

"Throughout the day we will do combo boxes, takeaway and freshly made chicken tenders."

The club also has a huge range of draught lagers, real ales, non-alcoholic options and soft drinks available at its bar.

Zak says the club's previous expansion has been a huge hit with members.

He added: "The members love it because the ones who are more serious love the match room because it's got the match conditions and is a bit more spacious

"We have got quite a lot of options with the darts. We've been able to take on two nights of the Amateur Darts Circuit, which is the biggest darts thing at the moment.

"Along with that, we do the junior pool club on Saturday morning. They love being in there because they get their own rooms themselves at the top corner.

"So it's been great for the members as well as for us."
