A popular local business opened its first permanent store in Longton Exchange Shopping Centre on Saturday (9 September).

Owned by Stoke-on-Trent couple Andy and Laura, Keep it Local had exclusively done pop-up events in local shopping centres before the opening of their shop.

Andy said he was "absolutely blown away" by the support received on the opening weekend.

Keep it Local completed a number of pop-up events in local shopping centres before opening their permanent shop (Nub News).

He told Stoke Nub News: "On Saturday the support coming from local people was amazing, we cut the ribbon at 10am and there was a queue of people outside.

"One or two people said they can't believe there is a shop like this in Longton and that really blows us away that people are grateful that they have a nice shop where they can buy quality items.

"It was exactly what we wanted - a positive experience and feedback from local people."

The shop showcases 67 independent makers who create a whole range of fantastic handmade products (Nub News).

Keep it Local's first pop-up event was in The Potteries Centre in November 2022 and after talking to local makers and markets, Andy decided to work on the business full-time.

The new shop showcases 67 independent makers who create a whole range of products, from prints and t-shirts to keyrings and flasks.

Andy said: "There is something for everyone and for every budget whether that is a couple of pounds or a couple of hundred - there will always be something for everyone and it's all made locally and perfected over many years in some cases."

The brand-new shop is open 10am-4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 10am-2pm on a Thursday.
