Staffordshire Police has released an image of a man they want to speak to after a police officer was injured in January.

A grey Volkswagen Golf failed to stop for officers who were on foot on Hassall Street in Newcastle-under-Lyme on 19 January. The driver of the vehicle drove off, striking one of the officers as he left the scene.

The police officer was left with a "badly" bruised arm and the Volkswagen was later found abandoned in Trent Vale.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: " We would like to speak to him after a police officer was injured in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

"On 19 January, a grey VW Golf failed to stop for officers on foot patrol on Hassall Street.

"If you can help us to identify the man in the CCTV image, please call 101, quoting incident 73 of 19 January, or message us using Live Chat on our website.
