Police seize off-road bike and sledgehammer in Stoke-on-Trent park

The police plane was in the sky above Hanley over the weekend after reports of 'masked people' riding off-road bikes with weapons.

Officers from Staffordshire Police were called out to Central Forest Park in Hanley and a plane from the National Police Air Service was also sent up above the park and surrounding areas.

One off-road bike and a sledgehammer were seized by police and the investigation into the incident is continuing.

Staffordshire Police says officers spoke to a 16-year-old boy who was given 'words of advice' and the investigation into the incident is said to be ongoing.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for information following reports of anti-social behaviour in Central Forest Park, Hanley. 

"We were called to Central Forest Park at 7.30pm on Saturday (21 June) following reports of a group of masked people riding off-road bikes and carrying weapons. 

"Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from National Police Air Service (NPAS). 

"One off-road bike and a sledgehammer was seized. A 16-year-old boy was spoken to by officers and given words of advice. 

"Our investigation is ongoing. 

"Anyone who has any information that may help our investigation is asked to contact us. Call 101, quoting incident 824 of 21 June, or use Live Chat on our website."
