Plans to turn closed Stoke-on-Trent pub into shop and beauty salon

Plans have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to turn a former pub into a shop and beauty salon.
The plan for the Robin Hood pub on Hartshill Road also includes converting the first floor into two flats and a four-bedroom HMO.
The building is within the Hartshill Conservation Area and the "Robin Hood" signage would be retained under the proposals.
The owner of the building put it up for sale in December 2024 for just under £200,000. The boozer closed in February this year after the pub licensees were unable to buy the building despite a fundraising campaign to keep it open.
The planning statement submitted as part of the application proposes the "change of use of the ground floor from public house (Sui Generis) to two retail units (Convenience shop & Hair & Beauty Salon, Use Class E Commercial, Business and Service).
"Conversion of the upper floor to two flats and one four-bedroom HMO, with new shopfront and elevational alterations."
Under the proposals, the ground-floor windows would be changed and an extra door would be added.
The convenience store would be open 7am-11pm.
The application adds: "The property at 321 Hartshill Road, ST4 7NR, is an existing two-storey building, formerly a public house.
"It's strategically located within an established mixed-use area, characterised by a diverse blend of residential properties and various local commercial units.
"Its prominent position on Hartshill Road ensures excellent visibility and accessibility within the immediate neighbourhood."
