Plans for new flat inside Longton pub rejected by council

Plans to transform redundant kitchen space in a Longton pub into a residential flat have been rejected by Stoke-on-Trent City Council. 

George & Dragon, on Heathcote Road in Longton, is used as a pub on the ground floor and as flats on the first floor. 

Bosworth Properties Limited applied for permission last month to transform kitchen and storage space on the ground floor into a one-bedroom flat. 

Plans to convert the kitchen into a residential flat have been rejected by the council (Nub News).

Yesterday (21 September), the plans were refused by officers at Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The officers report states that the plans "would result in a poor and unacceptable living environment for potential residential occupiers".
