A girl and a boy have been injured after a car reportedly collided with them whilst they were crossing a road in Stoke-on-Trent.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a road traffic collision on Chell Heath Road, Stoke-on-Trent at 8.32am today (Wednesday).

Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a Midlands Air Ambulance responded to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived to find a girl and a boy who had been injured in a collision with a car.

"The girl sustained serious injuries and received trauma care from the team of ambulance staff. Once stabilised, the girl was conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights and sirens to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

"The boy sustained potentially serious injuries and was treated on scene before being taken to the same hospital for further checks.

"The driver of the car, a woman, was assessed but declined hospital treatment."
